Search "RedGIFs downloader" and you'll find a dozen look-alike sites. We don't think you should take anyone's word for which one works — including ours — so we ran the same test on each and wrote down exactly what happened.
On 29 October 2026, in desktop Chrome, we pasted the same four RedGIFs links into each site:
redgifs.com/users/…).We checked what each site showed, whether a real file was saved, inspected that file (resolution, audio track, file type), and logged every pop-up window and ad network the page contacted. Two pairs of sites turned out to run on the same engine — we note that where it applies.

redgifdownloader.com sends its downloads through download.redgifsdownloader.net, so we grouped it with that site; redgifsdl.com and redgifs.download show the same interface and results.
For an ordinary video, all five pointed at RedGIFs' own HD MP4 with its audio track intact. The files we saved through different sites were the same 21.6 MB, 2120×1080 file with an AAC audio track; the others linked to that exact file. If single clips are all you need, any of them works; the differences are in convenience and in what surrounds the button.
RedGIFs hosts photos and multi-image galleries too. Two tools returned nothing for them, one saved the image with a video extension, and none except ours listed the whole gallery. (We had the same .mp4-name bug ourselves until this test — it's fixed now; how images and galleries work.)
No web tool, ours included, zips up a full profile in the browser — RedGIFs rate-limits that kind of bulk traffic. We show how many clips a profile has and offer a metered API with a free tier for full downloads; power users can also use yt-dlp or gallery-dl (the options compared).
The file always comes from RedGIFs, so the real risk is the page around it. One site opened an ad pop-under the moment we clicked; another mixes a strip of live-cam "creators" into the results. We run no pop-ups at all.
9xbuddy, saveredgifs.com and redgifsaver.com showed a Cloudflare "checking your browser" wall to our test machine, so we can't report on them. We'll re-run this comparison when sites change — results above are dated, and we'd rather be accurate than flattering.
Open RedGIFs Downloader →Every site in our test that saved the video file kept the audio track — the HD file is the same MP4 RedGIFs streams. Sound is only missing when the clip was uploaded without it.
In our October 2026 test only RedGIFs Downloader returned every image of a gallery; the others gave the first image only or nothing.
None of the five web tools downloads a full profile. RedGIFs Downloader shows the profile's clip count and offers a free API tier (3,000 clips a month); command-line tools like yt-dlp and gallery-dl can also do it.
The files themselves come from RedGIFs. The risk is the page around them: one site in our test opened an ad pop-under on the first click. Use a tool without pop-ups and never install software a downloader page pushes on you.
